Smoke on the Avenue

You don't need a recommendation today, that's all I've done this week. So here's how my day went.
Ellen and I slept in half an hour or so, listening to the news, then heard a fire truck outside the window. Nothing new for either of us, as we live close to a fire station, but Ellen was the first to realize that it was closer than usual... and then to smell the smoke. We got changed a bit quicker then and even put a few things aside in case we needed to leave, but it still didn't feel like a big rush and I just ate my breakfast.

Then we were evacuated, which is tough enough in normal times, but downright weird when all the coffee shops are closed and we're supposed to social distance.
My first few days of working from home went very well, I thought, but lately it's been a bit rougher. Given the way today started, I think I at least have a bit of an excuse. I'm supposed to have an outline for writing a review paper by Monday, so I might have to putter a bit over the weekend, but that's okay. It's not like I had a ton of other plans.
