Twitter's been a really good source of information and banter during the COVID-19 pandemic. At least, it's miles and miles ahead of the conversation on Facebook, and at least given my feed it's got a lot more varied and interesting takes than even most news sites. I've had a twitter account for a few years now but I only checked it intermittently, and for all intents and purposes I had never really tweeted anything myself.

One of the accounts I've appreciated the most these days is Rob Wiblin's. I don't know if I've mentioned Rob on the blog before, but I think I've mentioned 80,000 hours, of which he's the host. Rob is a long-termist, which is to say he thinks the most important way to do good in the world right now is to care about the future, so his job is thinking a lot about existential risks that threaten human potential. He's been pumping out ideas, spreadsheets, and takes on COVID-19 for a long time now, and he's also just a great nexus to other great thinkers on this topic.

So, what I'm happy to become on twitter and on here, to some extent, is a weak link to the ideas of Rob Wiblin. He helped me not to be the one yelling "its just the flu" a month ago (and yes, that was the default position a month ago for between a lot and most people).

Here's a sample of something he shared today, I thought it's worth some attention for both of you :).

I read the last line and thought you were making fun of me and my multiple personalities... It took us a minute and a couple rereads, but we finally understood.
