Fast as Hell

This third hell is shielded from me.

This is the worst hell you can imagine.

Not the worst.

Oh no,

God no, not the worst.

This is the depressed, diseased woman of 19

Watching the soldier rape her daughter.

This is the same starved child observing her unholy fast

As hell himself breaks her leg for amusement.

It's hell because we make it so.

The last we can make, and the last that we do.

You don't know this hell.

Most who experience this hell

Don't survive long enough to read a blog.

This blessing is what allows us to imagine it.

To wish this hell on another,

It pushes evil to its limits.

It does not exceed those limits,

Because such tyrants have lived.

Simple tortures of both mind and body

Carried out on conquered rulers, conquered nations.

Some evil ones have enacted this hell on whoever they can.

King or citizen, both are guilty,

Of a sin we can barely comprehend.

But we can.
